Philosophy Ethics and Religion Society

Philosophy, Ethics and Religion Society has seen a busy term with talks, presentations and discussions taking place on a number of interesting and topical issues. From questioning the morality of animal experimentation to looking at Plato's critique of democracy, students have been grappling with challenging concepts. More recently we looked at a study carried out for the BBC on ethical views in the UK. The students were surprised by some of the findings and it led them to consider how much popular opinion should influence policy-making.

We are finishing the term by watching 'Creation' and questioning how much of a challenge Darwin's 'On the Origin of Species' posed to religious views on creation.

Ms Mattinson would like to thank all students who have presented this term in addition to those who have attended and joined in with a number of lively debates! We look forward to next term and always like to see new faces!
