The start of the new academic year is always an exciting moment as we welcome new Wilsonians, who join a tradition dating back to 1615! Edward Wilson would be so proud of the diversity of our school: just as four hundred years ago, pupils from a broad range of backgrounds are being shaped into kind, hardworking and impressive young men.
We start this year with profound optimism and excitement. The school continues to be listed as one of the highest performing schools (including all independents) in the country and not just for academic reasons: a recent edition of The Spectator listed Wilson's as one of 'Four Notable Schools' in the UK, making reference to our unique Year 7 instrumental programme, which continues to be a source of great pride.
As ever we were delighted with the academic outcomes this summer, reflecting the immense hard work of students and their teacher. Students were able to leave us to study a very wide range of courses in the UK and around the world. As we tell students often, one cannot expect to succeed all of the time, but when we do—let's celebrate! This we were able to do with our 2020 leavers in a belated, but very enjoyable reunion last Friday. We look forward to hearing about their achievements in the years to come.
