Computing continues to engage and attract many of our students, eager to work at the cutting edge of technology. We strive to offer as many pupils as possible the chance to take part in exciting challenges such as the OUCC.

The Oxford University Computing Challenge (OUCC) is an invitation event which aims to encourage students who have achieved a top 10% score in the UK Bebras Challenge to develop their skills further and produce programmed solutions to computational thinking problems. This year we had nearly 200 students qualify for the OUCC across the different categories of Juniors (Year 7), Intermediate (Year 8), Senior (Years 9 and 11) Elite (Years 12 and 13). Unfortunately, Year 10 could not compete in the OUCC this year, despite performing admirably in the Bebras challenge with 15 achieving a distinction, as the Year 10 examinations were on during the same week.

15 students achieved a distinction in the first round of the OUCC with one student in the Elite category qualifying for the final, having scored 100%. As a result of this, last week Boris (Year Thirteen) competed in the national finals and was successful in achieving first place! Massive congratulations to Boris on this achievement and I hope this inspires other students for the years ahead.
