    Development Director

    Competitive salary commensurate with experience

This is an opportunity to pioneer a cutting-edge fundraising programme at one of the finest state-funded boys’ grammar schools in the country.

Founded in 1615, Wilson’s School delivers a transformational educational experience to able boys of any background or ethnicity, where all are welcomed as equals. With over 1,100 boys on the roll, the School provides a first class secondary education to bright children often from families with very limited financial means, and offers life-changing opportunities.

Wilson’s is located on a spacious site in Wallington, Surrey, and hosts a plethora of excellent sporting and artistic facilities. The School has a strong sense of its distinctive identity; morale is high across its community and students have a tangible pride in their School. Wilson’s boys are some of the brightest in the country and achieve exemplary A Level results, placing it fifth in the Daily Telegraph’s League Table. Whilst the School has been around for four hundred years, it is always looking to the future. Funding for state school is under significant pressure and as such, the School needs to look at means of supplementing government income.

The School now seeks a Director of Development who will be responsible for the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy to support Wilson’s ambitions, as well as the enhancement of its relationships with its alumni base. Working collaboratively with the Head, your mission will be to maximise fundraising potential and to develop high-value relationships to deliver significant philanthropic income. You will engage powerfully with the alumni, bring innovative approaches to current activities and plan future strategic directions. As a member of the Associate Leadership Team, the Development Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Wilson’s School.

This is a career-defining opportunity to make a formative and significant personal impact on a young and ambitious programme, and will appeal especially to those who champion the unrivalled cause of education and access for all.

It is an exciting and hands-on post, which would suit an exceptional major gifts fundraiser with the gravitas and intellect required to operate effectively at a senior level. Degree level education, strategic acumen, energy, a can-do attitude, political sensitivity and a commitment to the vision and values of the state grammar school sector are all essential prerequisites.
