EASTER TRIP
Posted on: | Category:

During the Easter break, twenty-three Year 12 and 13 students (primarily students of History or German), accompanied by Ms Golland, Mr Walters and emergency substitute Miss Fairbrother, embarked on an exhilarating trip to Berlin. The itinerary was packed and the excitement was tangible during the drive to our hotel (conveniently situated near a shopping centre).

We immersed ourselves in the rich history of Berlin with trips to the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Wall, GDR museum and Stasi museum. In particular, the visit to Sachsenhausen concentration camp was particularly poignant. A visit to the Museumsinsel and witnessing the architecture of the city brought what is studied in the A-Level course into reality for German students and there was an encouraging willingness from all students to ask questions.

The weather was wonderful throughout and free time afforded to students to explore the city (coupled with free doughnuts) made sure that everyone left Berlin with nothing but good things to say about the trip! A particular thank you must be extended to the staff who organised and accompanied the trip: Ms Golland, Mr Walters and Miss Fairbrother.
