RIVALRY AND NOSTALGIA
Posted on: | Category:

Last Sunday, the traditional Old Wilsonians’ Chess Match took place, where former pupils of Wilson’s travelled across the country to play chess with the current players of the school. In contrast to previous years, the event consisted of 5 rounds of fast chess, allowing the games played to be more laid back and informal. Although the chess itself was somewhat competitive, the event was hugely positive, where Old Wilsonians who left the school as long as 20 years ago were able to meet up with former teammates or friends.

Between the 3rd and 4th round, a wide selection of pizza was provided, followed by a tour of the newly established Britton Centre, in which the gym surprised many. Sadly, for the first time, the event was missing former long-serving chess teacher Dr Cooper. All in all, it was a great day for Wilson’s chess, where many Old Wilsonians came along to recognise their time here at Wilson’s.
