Last Friday saw the first charity event of the new year—a doughnut sale! First thing in the morning and Mr Stobie-Jones was on his way to collect the 300 freshly baked doughnuts from Krispy Kreme in Croydon. Students in classes became distracted as the 25 boxes of doughnuts made their way through the entrance of the school. The committee was soon well underway making preparations for the madness that would follow: two tables were set out—one for cash and one for card.
Before we knew it, period 4 was over and lunch had begun. With the great price of one pound for one doughnut, the courtyard quickly became a hustling and bustling scene, as students and teachers came to purchase a doughnut or in some cases, doughnuts! Aided by Mr Redmond, the charities committee made sure there were efficient queues, with no pushing in. Within 25 minutes, we had to sadly turn away students as we had already sold out! An overall great event to raise money for our dedicated charities this year—Mind and Knives Not Lives.
