Football has been thriving at all levels in the school this term, with some fantastic fixtures since September, including Monday’s U15A match against local rivals Glenthorne, which was won 4-1 (with goals from Anthony, Luca and Rafael—photo below). The 1st XI has qualified for the knockout phase of the ESFA Super League by beating Falconwood 4-0 on Tuesday. We have been lucky (until this weekend!) that weather hasn’t necessitated too many match cancellations, meaning that pupils have enjoyed more football fixtures this term than ever—nearly 200 in total! Thank you to all those pupils, parents, teachers, and coaches who enable us to enjoy such a great football experience at Wilson’s!
Player of the Week
Playing out this year, former goalkeeper Max continues to have a big influence for the 4th XI, he scored another two goals in their latest two games. Ashley (Year 9) has been a revelation for the U14As since moving up this year; he was also excellent, winning all his challenges at right back. Player of the week is Nana (Year 9) who put on the No.9 shirt this week as CF and scored two great goals.
Team of the Week
The 2nd XI obtained their win first win of the season, beating Old Wilsonian’s 5-2. A fantastic counter-attacking display from the front three of Folaju, Stuart and Roman (all Year 13) won the game. The team of the week are the U14As who were magnificent in their win over Harris Sutton in the Sutton Cup. The squad have worked tirelessly over the last few months, often training in the holidays and their improvement has been noticeable. We are proud of the dedication that both Mr Olowu and the whole squad continue to show!
