COMPETITION FINAL
Posted on: | Category:

Over 250 students entered our annual House Music competition this year, and on Thursday, 14 March, we saw the culmination of the event with the Young Musician of the Year Final. The audience was treated to impressive performances across all instrumental classes in both Junior (Years 7–9) and Senior (Years 10–13) categories.

Whilst Mark Stone, an international opera singer and Old Wilsonian, deliberated, a quintet of performers from the Barbershop Ensemble gave a beautiful rendition of The Lake Isle of Innisfree arranged by Eleanor Daley.

Stone conveyed his delight at the performances and the hugely subjective nature of his task. His final adjudication was as follows:

Junior
1st Place: Dylan, Piano
2nd Place: Adhiraj, Drum Kit
Highly Commended: Arlo, Trombone; Advay, Classical Guitar

Senior
1st Place: Joshua, Alto Saxophone
2nd Place: Adithya, Mridhangam
Highly Commended: Nicolas, Voice; Sean, Piano

Congratulations to all of the performers involved in this spectacular concert—it truly was a night to remember! Congratulations also to all participants in the House Music Heat. Without you, such an event would not happen. Thank you to Mr Hann for organising the event, to all instrumental and vocal teachers for helping the students to prepare, and to the wider staff and school community for your support. We look forward to hearing many more fantastic performances next year!
