CLUBS FOR CREATIVITY
Posted on: | Category:

Creative writing clubs for all Key Stages have been established at Wilson’s this term, championed by English teachers, who have been ably assisted by a team of enthusiastic sixth formers. We are so pleased to see Wilson’s students harnessing the power of the written word and taking the opportunity to express themselves in writing.

Key Stage Three Creative Writing Club takes place on Monday, week A in room 10. This week, keen writers from Year Seven and Year Eight wrote poems and stories inspired by paintings by artists such as Turner and Brueghel—with help from sixth-formers Ojas, Nour and Abdi. The older pupils are able to guide and inspire their younger colleagues, acting as role models in writing for them. Dr Johnstone runs the club and would be happy to see any Key Stage Three student joining in,

For pupils in Years Nine – Thirteen, Creative Writing Club meets in the Board Room each Wednesday for students to write and share their work. With a focus on life writing, based on personal experience, we are working up to creating a piece of fiction. The sessions are designed to feel different from the writing for GCSE English Language in that they encourage students to write about their own experiences, interests and feelings. If you are interested, speak to Ms Footman or Ms Wells-Cole—or just turn up!
