The Coaching Programme

Each age group team has winter net practice between January and March before the season starts. Once into the summer term the different age groups receive coaching in their games lesson plus have one after school practice. The outdoor nets are open every lunchtime for team and non-team players to come along to practice. The school runs an Emerging Player Programme (EPP) which sees talented U13 & U14 players who may be future 1st X1 players receive some specialist 1-1 coaching. Cricket also features in PE Lessons from Year 7 up to Year 11.

We have boys at the school who are involved with the Surrey CCC Development and Performance programmes and often Wilson’s pupils play for the Surrey Schools U15 team in the annual Hobbs Trophy match at The Kia Oval.

Wilson’s has a very busy fixture list playing against a mix of State and Independent Schools from Surrey, Sussex and Kent. There are notable matches against Whitgift, Trinity and Reigate Grammar plus the 1st X1 have prestigious fixtures against the MCC and The Forty Club. All A teams for each age group take part in a Sutton League and are entered into their relevant Surrey Cup. The 1st X1 and U15’s also take part in National competitions.

On top of the normal season games a cricket tour takes place on a regular basis with Barbados and Dubai being the most recent destinations.
