Wilson's School

Keeping Children Safe

‘Your school is a caring community where staff are keenly aware of their safeguarding responsibilities. They go above and beyond to keep pupils safe.’ — Ofsted, 2020

Our school policy on Safeguarding and Child Protection can be found here.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Gavin Englefield, with cover provided by Samantha Banner and David Alderson.

The safety and welfare of our students is paramount and full details of our approach to Care, Guidance and Support are found here.  All adults working in the school are aware of their duty to protect children from harm and abuse, promote their welfare and be alert to indications that any student might be at risk of harm or abuse.  They are aware that this could happen to any child and that any concerns need to be referred on.

If you are concerned about the safety or welfare of any pupil in the school, please contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead via the School Office (020 8773 2931).

Report a concern.

The School’s Duty of Care

We have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of our students under the Education Act 2002 and Children Act 1999 by identifying any child where welfare concerns exist and taking action to address them in partnership with families and other agencies where appropriate.

The school works within the London Child Protection Procedures (London Safeguarding Children Board) which has been adopted by the Sutton Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and in accordance with the following Government documents:

Wilson’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The recruitment procedures include an enhanced DBS check, overseas police checks (where relevant), proof of qualifications and employment history references. The appointee’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy at all times.
