The prefect team represents the leaders of the student body and has an essential role in the productive, happy, and safe, running of a busy school environment. They serve the school community in a wide varieties of ways, including by arranging and running co-curricular activities, working closely with form groups in Years 7-9, representing the school at significant public events and conducting their day-to-day tasks supervising younger students in some of the busier areas around the site. All the while, prefects act as friendly and approachable faces for younger pupils seeking advice. They know very well what is to be a Wilsonian and they use their experiences to support and guide those lower down the school.

The prefect team is led by our School Captain, Jerome, and he is assisted in his varied work by a formidable team of Deputy School Captains; Christopher, Rahavan, Rohan, Freddie and Aaron. Each has an excellent record of service and leadership, and have embodied the school’s motto non sibi sed omnibus throughout their time at the school.

The selection process for School Captain and Deputy School Captain positions is a rigorous one! Letters of application are carefully assessed, alongside a range of other factors, culminating in an interview with the Head and Director of Sixth Form. To be selected for one of these positions reflects a consistent depth of service and commitment to the school community, so a big congratulations! to the incoming team.

To signify their position to younger students, prefects wear a prefect badge and tie. These ties will be awarded to the new team in a formal school assembly in September, as they commence their duties for the 2023–24 academic year.
