Wellbeing Centre Update

wellbeingcentre

The Wellbeing Centre is at the heart of Wilson's life and all pupils are introduced to this suite of rooms and spaces, which include the Benjamin Room, counselling room, and a very cheerful, informal space for groups to gather and chat.

As a new school year gets underway, Charles (Year 13), our Wellbeing Prefect, explains the importance of the school's Wellbeing Centre to life at Wilson's -

"Wellbeing is and always has been crucial for humans to flourish. At Wilson’s, there are many fantastic procedures in place to benefit students' wellbeing. As the Wellbeing Prefect, I believe that the mentoring system is particularly invaluable in times of need and allows older students to give priceless support to pupils in younger years.

Over the course of two sessions, the Wellbeing Team has been trained in a variety of skills to develop our understanding and skills in empathy, consideration, listening and communicating well. We were given the chance to be positive influences and provide a helping hand and it is something that I am very thankful for.

Now, over the course of the year, our team of trained mentors will be available to provide support to anybody who feels like they want somebody to talk to, and I hope that our guidance and care can bring about a change in some people - whether it be exam stress, loneliness, confidence issues or anything - hopefully we can help, as everybody deserves a chance to be happy."
