Badminton National Finalists

KS3 crowned National runners-up!

Our U14 badminton team has achieved an outstanding milestone, finishing as national runners-up in the prestigious School Sport Magazine Badminton National Cup. Competing against some of the strongest school teams in the country, the boys demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the competition, which started back in September.

The team travelled to Loughborough for the finals, where they faced a challenging semi-final against Altrincham Grammar School. In a highly competitive match, our players rose to the occasion and secured a well-deserved victory, booking their place in the final against the host school.

The final proved to be a tough contest, with both teams displaying excellent badminton. Despite a spirited performance, our team narrowly missed out on the title, losing 4–2. The scoreline, however, does not fully reflect the intensity and quality of the matches played.

A special mention goes to Advait in Year 7, who was competing at the national level for the first time. Advait delivered an exceptional performance, winning both his singles and doubles matches – a remarkable achievement, and a sign of great promise for the future.

The entire team – Sid (Y9), Neo (Y9), Samuel (Y7), Akshaj (Y7), and Advait (Y7) – should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Throughout the competition, they demonstrated a positive attitude, a strong fighting spirit, and a commitment to playing high-quality badminton. Their conduct on and off the court was exemplary, representing the school with pride and sportsmanship.

Reaching the national final is a fantastic accomplishment, and this experience will no doubt be a step towards future success. Congratulations to all the players on an unforgettable tournament. Sadly, the U14 team was eliminated at the regional stage of the Badminton England Nationals, one step away from this month’s prestigious finals held at the National Badminton Centre.

KS4 Badminton Team Reach National Finals

We are delighted to celebrate the success of our KS4 badminton team, who have qualified for the Badminton England National Finals in Milton Keynes. The team will be competing this week, and we wish them the very best of luck as they take on the top school teams from across the country.

Their journey to the national stage has been nothing short of impressive. In the regional finals, the boys faced strong and determined opposition, rising to the challenge with confidence and resilience. A standout performance came against Skinners, a team they had previously lost to in the School Sport Magazine National Cup. This time, however, our players produced an excellent display, showcasing their progress and determination to succeed.

Throughout the competition, the team demonstrated outstanding badminton skills, a willingness to succeed, and excellent teamwork. Their positive attitude and ability to perform under pressure were key factors in securing their place in the national finals.

The squad – Kai (Year 11), Aayush (Year 9), Vincent (Year 11), Yin (Year 11), and Jett (Year 10) – have all contributed to this fantastic achievement. Their hard work and commitment to training have truly paid off, and they should be very proud of their accomplishments so far.

We look forward to hearing how they get on in Milton Keynes and will be cheering them on every step of the way. Good luck, boys!
