Badminton Update
It has been an outstanding period for badminton, with both our KS3 and KS4 teams crowned Surrey Champions and progressing to the regional round of the Badminton England National Schools Championships.
The KS4 competition was particularly impressive, with our A and B teams both reaching the final. In a closely fought and high-quality match, the A team narrowly defeated the B team 3–2, highlighting the strength in depth across the squad. The KS3 B team also performed admirably, putting in a strong display before losing to eventual finalists KCS Wimbledon.
Overall, it was a fantastic day and a valuable experience, especially for some of our junior players competing at this level for the first time.
Further success followed in recent U16 friendly fixtures against Reed’s and Tiffin, where several students represented the school in their first badminton fixture. The matches were competitive throughout and provided excellent match experience for all involved.
Focussing on the future, Mr Rees commented:
Looking ahead, March promises to be a busy and exciting month. Our KS3 team will host a school from Guernsey in the quarter-finals of the School Sport Magazine Nationals, while our Surrey champion teams prepare for the Badminton England regional rounds, with hopes of progressing to the national finals.
Well done to all players involved and good luck in the challenges ahead!
