Classicists compete in Latin Olympiad
The Latin Olympiad took place at Tiffin school on Friday 21 November. It was a national competition in which many teams took part, travelling from near and far (with some even travelling from Portsmouth!). We took two teams of four Year 10 students: Wilson’s Warriors, and Wilson’s Victores!
There were twelve rounds, each of which had a unique style of question. For example: working out the name of famous TV shows and movies in Latin, guessing the myth from emojis, and my favourite: translating a Latin riddle and solving it!
Overall, everyone enjoyed the Olympiad, working together as a team to tackle the problems head on. We were going up against teams of Year 11s as the competition was open to both year groups, so the opposition was fierce! Between the two teams Wilson’s Victores placed twenty-sixth scoring fifty-six points and Wilson’s Warriors placed twenty-fifth scoring seventy-eight points!
