Cricket Update #2

Team Reports

Wilson’s 1st XI won the toss and chose to field first against an experienced MCC representative XI.

The opposition openers came out aggressively, putting the seam attack under early pressure and scoring freely. In response, Wilson’s turned to spin, which proved to be a turning point as the run rate slowed and wickets began to fall regularly.

Viabhav delivered an outstanding spell, finishing with remarkable figures of 8–42 to bowl the opposition out for 207.

In reply, Wilson’s faced a strong bowling attack featuring experienced players from Premier League clubs. Despite losing eight wickets, the side showed resilience to hold on and secure a draw.

Wilson’s 2nd XI claimed a convincing victory after winning the toss and choosing to bat against KCS. A dominant batting display was led by Adhrit, who smashed a 119 off just 66 balls, supported by a quickfire 33 off 18 deliveries from Luca. Their efforts powered Wilson’s to an imposing total of 193 for 2.

Wilson’s U15A started their Surrey Cup campaign in strong fashion with a convincing victory over Emanuel. After winning the toss, Wilson’s captain elected to field first.

Emanuel made a positive start, taking advantage of the seam attack in the opening overs. Sensing the need for a change, the Wilson’s captain introduced spin after four overs—a decision that quickly turned the game.

The spinners dominated from that point on. Rochit led the way with an excellent spell, claiming 3 wickets, while Olly delivered a standout performance, taking an impressive 6 wickets. Emanuel were bowled out for just 59. Behind the stumps, Nilin showcased his quality with 3 sharp stumpings, playing a key role in the innings.

Chasing a modest target, Wilson’s batters approached the task with composure, losing only one wicket as they comfortably reached the total.

Wilson’s 1st XI progressed confidently into the second round of the National T20 Cup with an impressive victory over Colfe’s.

After losing the toss, Wilson’s were asked to bat first. Openers Adhrit and Ishan set the tone early, batting positively through the powerplay and scoring at over eight runs per over. Their aggressive start laid a strong foundation for the innings.

Following the first wicket, Adhrit continued his excellent form, joined by Rayyan. The pair dominated the Colfe’s attack, with Rayyan bringing up a well-made 50 and Adhrit finishing unbeaten on a superb 81. Wilson’s closed their innings on a commanding 176 for 1 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Colfe’s matched the required run rate during the first eight overs, keeping the contest alive. However, a steady fall of wickets shifted the momentum firmly in Wilson’s favour. Disciplined bowling and pressure in the field eventually saw Colfe’s bowled out for 121.

Wilson’s U12A lost the toss and were put into bat, posting a competitive total of 113 from their 20 overs. Akshat was the standout performer, striking a powerful 52 from just 36 balls to anchor the innings.

Despite setting a solid platform, too many boundary balls in the field proved costly. Epsom were able to maintain the required run rate and ultimately reached the target with five wickets in hand in the 16th over.

Wilson’s U12B won the toss elected to bowl. Bowling responsibilities were shared, with Advait (2-6-1) and Aditya (2-6-2) the standout performers, helping restrict Epsom to 124 for 6.

In reply, Wilson’s struggled to build any momentum with the bat and were bowled out for 80 in 19.4 overs. Extras contributed a significant 35 runs, highlighting difficulties in applying pressure to the opposition. Advait showed some promise with a quick 7 from 3 balls, while Arjun top-scored with 17 from 23 deliveries.

Wilson’s U13A lost the toss and were put in to bat. Wilson’s found runs hard to come by against a disciplined Epsom bowling attack. The opposition maintained a consistent line and length, making it difficult to find gaps and build momentum.

Arjun was the standout performer with the bat, playing a composed innings of 42 from 49 balls before being caught behind. He was supported by Vayun, who struck the ball well for his 17 from 30 deliveries. However, a lack of partnerships meant Wilson’s finished on 85 for 5 from their 20 overs.

Defending a modest total was always going to be a tough task, particularly against a strong Epsom side whose top four included Surrey players. Wilson’s made an encouraging start with the ball, as Reyansh claimed an early wicket in the third over. Shortly after, a sharp catch from Will at point reduced Epsom to 2 wickets down.

Despite these positives, some expensive overs and wayward bowling down the leg side—combined with a short boundary—allowed Epsom to accelerate. They reached their target comfortably, finishing on 89 for 2 in just 10.2 overs.

Wilson’s U13B were narrowly defeated by Epsom College in a closely contested match.

After being put into bat, Wilson’s posted a competitive total of 125 for 6 from their 20 overs. It was a solid team effort, with contributions throughout helping to set a challenging target.

In reply, Epsom started cautiously and found themselves well behind the required run rate after the first eight overs, thanks to some tidy and disciplined Wilson’s bowling.

However, the momentum shifted when Epsom’s number three produced a match-defining innings, retiring on 50. His acceleration brought the chase back on track, and despite Wilson’s efforts in the field, Epsom managed to edge ahead and reach 126 for 3 in 19.3 overs.
