Cricket Update #3

Team Reports

1st XI – Wilson’s lost the toss and Trinity elected to bat. On a good pitch Trinity batted well and scored 151 for 5 off 20 overs. 37 of their runs came in the last three overs of the innings. In reply, Wilson’s put on 100 in the first 10 overs with Ansh hitting 39 from 29 balls and Adhrit (51 from 42 balls). Once both openers were out, Wilson’s struggled to keep up with the run rate and finished 6 runs short.

U12A – Wilson’s lost the toss and were put into bat. A good score of 158 for 1 with Arjun retired on 51 off 39 balls and Guhan (38 off 20 balls). The captain, Sarvesh, supported the innings with 28 off 46 balls. In reply, the Wilson’s bowlers are improving but are still bowling too many extras which saw Skinners finish on 136 for 6. Wilson’s fielding was good in the first 10 overs, but needs to maintain levels for the whole match. Wilson’s won by 37 runs.

U12B – Wilson’s lost the toss and were asked to bat. The Wilson’s opening pair were destructive, putting on a 131 partnership (Mahesh, 45, and the captain, Vivvan, 52 retired). Wilson’s posted 158 for 1 off their 20 overs.   Wilson’s took the field with Ralph taking two outstanding wickets in his first over, and his finishing figures were 3 overs for 4 wickets and no runs.   The remaining wickets were shared, and Skinners were bowled out for 69 (2 PHOTOS ATTACHED)

U12C – Wilson’s lost the toss and were put into bat. Harsh (16 off 24 balls) and Shiven (28 off 31 balls) batted well.  Wilson’s, after 20 overs, finished on 125 for 4 off 20 overs. In response, Skinners kept up with the run rate mainly down to no balls and wides by the Wilson’s bowlers. At the end of the 19th over Skinners secured victory.

1st XI – Wilson’s lost the toss and Ardingly elected to bat. After losing two early wickets, Ardingly recovered with one of their batters scoring 193 not out to help post a score of 319 for 7 off 45 overs. Wilson’s fielded well but the bowlers found it hard to contain the Ardingly batters on a small ground. In reply, chasing a big total, Wilson’s lost early wickets. A good middle-order stand between Ishaan (79) and Viabhav (61) gave a little hope of getting close to the Ardingly total. Unfortunately, when both these batters were out Wilson’s finished on 205 all out.

U15A – Wilson’s lost the toss and were put into bat.  Out of the opening four batsmen, only Avyukth showed any real composure; however, when he was dismissed, the total was 37 for 4 off 8 overs. Anshul and Parth formed a good partnership batting through to the 17th over. When Anshul was caught on the boundary on 41 from 32 balls, Parth followed next over, scoring 23 off 30 balls.  Wilson’s finished on 155 in the 25th over. Some positive bowling from Wilson’s early on saw Ardingly lose 2 wickets in the opening 5 overs. The game slowly slipped away from Wilson’s due to some poor fielding and a lack of focus, saw Ardingly reached the target in the 23rd over.

U15B – Wilson’s lost the toss and Ardingly chose to bat. Quality bowling saw Ardingly bowled out for 74 in 12 overs. Wilson’s in reply, batted positively after losing opener Howard, first ball. It was left to Zayaan (24) and the captain Atharva (22) to see Wilson’s to victory.

U14A – Wilson’s lost the toss and were put into bat. A slow start from Wilson’s due to not looking for quick singles or to increase the run rate, it was only when Pranjay came in, that the run rate increased and Wilson’s finished on 112 for 5. Top scorer was Sai (36 off 57 balls).   A good start from the Wilson’s bowlers had Ardingly 11 for 4 after 3 overs, then after 10 overs, they were 57 for 8 with a good fielding and bowling display. From there, we lost focus and the tail end batsmen got comfortable and swung at every ball. Wilson’s did not take another wicket and Ardingly reached the total in 17.2 overs. Wilson’s best bowler was Shantanu (3 for 12 off 4 overs).
