Rotary Youth Speaks
Jaden (Year 8) recounts his experience representing Wilson's in the Rotary Youth Competition.
Last week, we found ourselves back in school in the evening to compete in Rotary Youth Speaks: A Debate Competition.
It was an exciting experience as we heard different ideas being debated across the schools - and witnessed some amazing public speaking techniques.
We debated with the motion "Should the use of AI be ethical" with Lakshman supporting the motion, me arguing against the motion and Arav as a chairman to introduce and sum up our ideas.
It was a fantastic competition and we just came out on top, winning the competition and advancing to the District Final!
Another team of Year 10 and 11 students - comprised of Aariv, Yusuf and Anirudha - also took part in the competition, debating the motion 'Climate change should take priority over economic growth in national policy'. They spoke excellently and received much praise from the judges, finishing a close second to St Philomena's.
Well done to our debaters, and thanks again to Mrs Mortimer and Mr Powell for their continued support of this popular activity!
