Debating for England

Ethan (Year 13) recently represented England at the European Debating Championship in Skopje, North Macedonia.

Across six preliminary rounds over two intense days of competition, his team secured an impressive five victories against just one loss with Ethan as captain. This strong performance saw them break through to the knockout stages in third place out of all competing teams - a remarkable achievement given the calibre of debaters from across Europe.

In the elimination rounds, England B continued their momentum, advancing through the quarter-finals and into the semi-finals. There, they faced England A in what proved to be a fiercely contested match between the two national squads. Although they ultimately fell to the A team, Ethan said it was "an honour to compete at such a high level". England A went on to win the entire championship, demonstrating the exceptional strength of English debating on the international stage.

Ethan was also awarded Third Best Speaker in Europe. This recognition reflects not only personal achievement but also the quality of training and support provided by Wilson's Debating Team.

Well done, Ethan!
