Football Update #6

Player of the Week

The indefatigable Oscar (Year 7) was everywhere for the U12As against Epsom with an all-action display.  Myles (Year 13) and Jonathan (Year) both got hattricks for the 1st XI with some composed finishing.

Player of the Week is attacking midfielder Edward (Year 8) who produced some magic moments for the U13As scoring a hat-trick against Woodcote.

Team of the Week

The U12As were triumphant in a fantastic fixture against Epsom College. The game was end to end and played in a superb spirit, ending with the U12As just coming out on top 2-1. The 1st XI went goal crazy in their Surrey Cup scoring twelve after being 1-0 down after thirty minutes!

Team of the Week are the U13As who made it two clean sheets in a row beating Woodcote 7-0 with Jad in and amongst the goals again.

Match Report

U12A National Cup Round 1

After a 50-minute drive to Grey Court, we had finally arrived. Although it was unfavourable conditions, we knew it was a must win game. After a short warmup, we kicked off. Niven had our first opportunity but unfortunately missed but we were already showing sparks of talent. However, not long after Niven took on 2 players and confidently slotted in home. 1-0. After our spirits had been fired up, Richard was played through on goal but missed. But not long after they had equalised-1-1. Although they had just scored, we put our heads down and Niven scored again. 2-1 and it was half time.

Not long after, a freekick was swung in from Ezra and Richard tapped it in back post and it was now 3-1. It was now the final stretch, and we were constantly defending, and they’d won a penalty. Even though Suvir had gotten a hand, it still went in, and it was now 3-2. With 10-minutes left, Richard played Niven in, and he faked the goalkeeper and scored, 4-2. In the final minutes, our defence of Akshat, Leon and Aadam held up and before long it was full time.

Final Score: Wilson’s 4 vs 2 Grey Court
