Wilson's School

Football Update #5

Player of the Week

Defensive central back pairing Woody (Year 8) and Ali (Year 8) guided the U13As to a clean sheet in their cup game. Sachin (Year 11) was inspirational as captain for the 6th XI in their fine midweek win and in the same game Amaan (Year 11) scored two good goals. Richard (Year 7) was a constant threat for the U12A’s, and his strike partner Niven (Year 7) scored another hat-trick in the same game.

Player of the Week is 1st XI defensive stalwart Tom (Year 12) who rose like a salmon to head in the winner versus London Freeman’s.

Team of the Week

The U13A’s marched into the next round of the National Cup, goals from Jad, Omer and Arnav completed a comprehensive win against Oxted. It was a wonderful Wednesday of senior football with all three teams going unbeaten against London Freeman’s.

Team of the Week are the U12As, who didn’t disappoint in their first ever cup game for the school. A good all-round display led them to a 4-2 win against a strong Grey Court team.

Match Report

Wilson’s U14C 2 vs 0 Hampton U15E

On Saturday, Wilson’s U14C played Hamptons U15E. The opening goal came midway through the first half after sustained pressure. A well-worked team move down the right wing ended with a low cross into the box, which was calmly finished by Pragyan to make it 1–0.

Defensively, Wilson’s stayed compact, clearing danger quickly and cutting off Hampton’s counterattacks. The midfield worked tirelessly to win the ball back and keep the tempo high however a ball came over the top and their striker went down. Penalty! The Hampton striker stood up and… missed. Our keeper Jivoane went the right way and calmy saved the penalty.

The second half saw even more hard work in defence and Jas remained solid, making key tackles and interceptions. The second goal came from a set piece. A perfectly delivered corner was met by Pragyan with a powerful shot into the bottom corner — a goal that sealed the win.

The drama wasn’t over as Wilson’s won a penalty after an arm was thrown inside the box. Pragyan stood up to take it for his hat-trick, but the keeper saved it low in the bottom left. It was a great game and, in the end, Wilson’s came out victorious extending the unbeaten run since last September.
