Football Update #8

Player of the Week

The 1st XI back five of Jacob (Year 12), Josh (Year 13), Emilio (Year 13), Tito (Year 13) and Adhrit (Year 13) put in a superb defensive effort. Oscar (Year 7) was everywhere for the U12As in their national cup game and another similar determined performance came from Krish (Year 9) for the U14Cs on his debut. Daniel (Year 8) got the vital goal for the U13As as he carried on his good form. Jatin (Year 9) and Aarush (Year 9) both scored goal of the season contenders for the U14Cs.

Thomas (Year 9) was again exceptional for the U14Cs to earn himself Wilson's Player of the Week.

Team of the Week

The 1st XI put in an outstanding effort to winning a tough game away versus Howard Of Effingham to move into round four of the national cup. The whole squad showed resilience to come from behind in tough conditions. The U13As put in one of their best displays of the season beating Whitgift 3-1.

Team of the Week are the U14Cs who played some outstanding attacking football first half and then defended well in the second period to beat Whitgift.

Match Report

Score: Wilson's U13A 7 vs 1 Royal Russell

Last Saturday, the U13As recorded an impressive victory against Royal Russell. The match started with Wilson's missing two key defenders, Woody and Will, before going 1-0 down to an over-the-top pass that cleared our defence with their striker smashing it into the net.

Wilson’s was playing badly with many wasted attempts before Tommy put in a perfect corner for Jad to head in. With the game in their hands, Tommy proceeded to score a free kick before Arnav notched a third to make it 3-1.

The game was not over. At half time, we were ready to go back on and turn it up a level. With Jad scoring to make it 4-1 and winning 2 pens, both converted cleanly by Tommy, Wilson's was suddenly easing into an easy win. Jad sent the keeper and scored a great goal, earning him a MOTM performance. Well done boys, we go again!
