First House Assemblies inspire Year 7 pupils!

Felix (Year 13) - our Communications Prefect - explains the importance of the House System at Wilson's...

Every student is part of one of six houses: Brecon, Camberwell, Datchelor, Greencoat, Hayes and Southwark. The house captains, alongside their two deputy house captains, provide support and insight for students from Years 7 to 9, as well as organising and running house events throughout the year - fostering competitive inter-house rivalry. This week played host to the first house assembly of the year, and the first ever house assembly for pupils in Year 7..

The first house assembly of this year began with introductions to what is meant by the house system and the importance of being an active member of a house. Students were encouraged to take part in clubs and house events, and strong efforts by individuals across each house were recognised.

Idhant (Year 13) - House Captain of Greencoat for the year ahead - shares his perspective on the House System below...

Being the defending champions of both the House Cup and the Sports Cup, we in Greencoat naturally have a target on our backs. Our house assembly was not only a celebration of all the efforts of each member of this tremendous house - it was also a call for maximum effort and participation. The house system is a lot more than competitions and prizes: it provides a form of entertainment and involvement outside of the classroom that really gets the best out of all of us. With this being the Year 7s first house assembly, we truly exemplified what being in Greencoat means, and I hope our message lit a fire in them to continue the incredible successes of this great house.

With a new year now well underway, we expect to some lively competition by pupils across the school in supporting their house!
