Wilson's School

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This has been a very exciting term, as the huge variety of news stories on this website since September demonstrates. There have been some remarkable developments, particularly in chess (under the leadership of Mr Dixon), the CCF (with the members of the RAF section winning the prestigious Royal Air Squadron Trophy), and the Eco-Schools Committee led by Oscar in Year 13. Of course, we were also delighted to be selected again by the Sunday Times for a Parent Power Award, reflecting the exceptionally strong GCSE outcomes last summer. Don’t miss the new short film about the school, which can be found here.

Some years ago, an Ofsted inspector commented that the school was characterised by people “quietly going around being brilliant”. This year's end of term message highlighted the work of some of these colleagues, and drew particular attention to activities like Dissection Club, which does not really lend itself to bright and cheerful photographs on the website, but which provide a great experience for pupils. Similarly, events like the Bebras Computing Challenge cannot really be captured in great photos, but take a lot of time to organise and supervise - and benefit so many.

There were further reflections on the roles of our school counsellors, all teachers involved in vertical tutoring, and our prefects. All embody the school's ethos of Non Sibi Sed Omnibus.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
