WILSON'S VICTORY
Posted on: | Category:

Last Thursday, a team of intrepid athletes from Years Seven to Twelve travelled to Northey Avenue for the annual Borough Cross Country Championships. After the tropical sunshine for the previous few days, the weather seemed to know it was time to turn, resulting in wet and cooler conditions for the runners. However, this did not deter the Wilson’s contingent, who put in some excellent performances around a challenging course against numerous schools from the borough.

The Year Seven Team, competing in the event for the first time were outstanding. Five of the six athletes finished in the top ten, with Aron (7H) placing highest in fourth. This excellent team effort meant the Year Sevens won the trophy for the best overall school in that year group. Well done to all our newest runners!

The Year Eight and Nine combined team also had three finishers in the top ten, with Christian (Year Eight) highest placed in fifth. Year Ten and Eleven runners found the opposition slightly more challenging; nonetheless, there was still a bronze medal for the ever-consistent Alex (Year Eleven). Ollie (Year Twelve) finished in a fantastic second place for the Senior team, taking home a silver medal for his endeavours.

When all of the scores were combined for each of the year groups, Wilson’s finished as overall Boys Schools’ Winners! What a result, and a massive congratulations to all students who took part. We are very proud of the runners, who showed great resilience and team spirit to contribute to this fantastic victory.
