We have enjoyed our liveliest Activities Week for some years, with trips to France and Germany for Year 9 and to the Battlefields of France and Belgium for Year 10. Year 8 pupils have explored the local ecosystem with a stroll along the Wandle and visited RHS Wisley. Year 7 pupils had perhaps a quieter week, following their adventures in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) a few weeks ago, but still enjoyed a trip to Kew Gardens on Monday!
Along the way, some pupils from these year groups have also visited the Imperial War Museum, the Barbican and Guildhall, and taken part in Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions. Pupils in school have also enjoyed a diverse range of activities, including juggling, embroidery, welcoming our visitors from the south of France and undertaking some practical forensic science activities.
A large number of pupils were involved in the junior production How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which was another huge success (report and reviews to follow). Students in Year 12 enjoyed the usual comprehensive University Preparation Programme throughout the week, with visiting speakers and visits supplementing the seminars and lectures that form the core of the UPP in most subjects.
We wish everybody a very happy and restful summer break!
