An Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is the most esteemed scholarship of its type in the UK, designed to inspire students to pursue their dreams and change the world as a future leader in engineering.

Here at Wilson’s, students are often praised for our intellect; however my attendance at the awards showed me that we are not alone! To have the opportunity to acquaint myself with fellow scholars, and the guest speakers, had a humbling and inspiring effect on me.

As my scholarship was sponsored by the RAF, I was presented with the honour of shaking the hand of Air Vice Marshal Ross Paterson, Air Officer Scotland.

The evening concluded with quite moving speeches from our guest speakers. I shall impart to you one message that particularly stuck with me: “Be unapologetically ambitious.”
