A BUSY WEEK!
Posted on: | Category:

This past week saw five badminton matches take place with multiple year groups involved, coming home with five wins from five. On Monday, our squad of Year Tens travelled to Isleworth & Syon School for a friendly fixture. This fixture involved a few students who were playing their first match for the school and certainly played their part in the win! We then hosted Whitgift in the School Sports Magazine National Cup, with our U14Bs quartet of Bharath, Robin, Raghav and Yin Ting coming away with the victory. They now move onto the quarterfinals of the Southeast section.

The following day we travelled to Tiffin and Whitgift for a league match and a national cup match, respectively. The U19s, led by the calm and composed Yuzhe (Year Thirteen), played some excellent games to come out on top at Tiffin. Meanwhile at Whitgift, the U16B quartet of Rishik, Ethan, Navaj and Shubhransh were involved in a close match that ended a draw on games (3-3) but was won on points difference! It was a tense final doubles match where Rishik and Ethan won enough points to get us over the line. They are now in the semifinals of the Southeast region.

Finally, on Thursday, we once again travelled to Isleworth & Syon for a friendly fixture, this time with a large squad of Year Nines. Anshul & Aadish, amongst others, were playing their first badminton fixture for the school. All Year Nines represented the school with pride and played some excellent games of badminton. Thank you to all hosting schools and well done to all students involved in fixtures this week!

In the next few weeks, alongside more friendly fixtures, all 4 teams continue their pursuit of reaching the finals of the School Sports Magazine Nationals, as well as the Badminton England KS4 Badminton Nationals local round taking place here at Wilson’s School in December.
