MUSICAL SHOWCASES
Posted on: | Category:

The recent Year 7 Celebration Evenings were—as always—joyful and entertaining occasions! Introduced by Dr Hayley Burton (Director of Music) and compered and directed by Mr Karl Kramer, who runs the Year 7 instrumental programme, the evenings proceeded with the usual wide range of musical performances showcasing the instruments that are taught to pupils—as well as the vocal tuition from our Choral Director, Christopher Hann. Thanks to Dr Clayden for providing accompaniments throughout the evening, and to our full instrumental teaching team.

As well as performances from individuals and instrumental groups, each evening ended with a blast from the 90-piece wind band (made up of half the year group on each night), playing the Showcase classics Mambo No.5 and Don’t Stop Believin’! There was also a short prize-giving on each evening, celebrating not only musical progress but also pupils’ friendliness, kindness and participation. Next week, we look forward to the Spring Concert, with a host of further musical events following soon after the Easter break—including the hotly anticipated finals of the House Music competition!
