JURASSIC COAST
Posted on: | Category:

The Geography Department took its AS Level students to Leeson House in Dorset for four days in late November to carry out human and physical geography fieldwork. Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Jurassic Coastline, Leeson House provided the perfect location for the students to be introduced to fieldwork on the topics of regeneration and coastal landscapes.

During their time there, students were introduced to a variety of methodologies that they could use to carry out their individual data collection on either the regeneration of Boscombe or the factors driving coastal landscape change at Swanage or Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.

All the students worked diligently throughout the four days, applying themselves admirably to all tasks set to them and demonstrating their passion for Geography. This work ethic and determination to understand new concepts was praised highly by the staff at Leeson House, who said that they were one of the best group of students they had ever had the pleasure of working with.

The Geography Department looks forward to continuing to work with the students back in the classroom on their individual fieldwork write ups to ensure that their passion in the field translates into an outstanding piece of work and a deeper understanding of how theoretical geography translates into the real world.
