Player of the Week

Jenishan (Year 8) was integral to the U13As good week. He was calm, composed and technically excellent in the two games. Dennis (Year 10) and Alex (Year 10) have formed a formidable midfield partnership for the U15A’s. They continued that on Tuesday with both of them driving the team forward in a fine display.

Player of the week is Oliver (Year 8) who was electrifying up front for the U13B’s scoring two good goals.

Team of the Week

The U15A’s continue their huge improvement producing a perfect away performance, beating Brampton 2-0 to move into the last 64 of the national cup. All of the Year 8 teams went goal crazy Tuesday with the B’s, C’s and D’s registering big wins at Harrodian.

Team of the week are the U13As who won two games. They won 3-2 against Harrodian in their first game, where they got off to a flying start at 3-0 up after ten minutes. Twenty-fours later they battled through the first round of the Sutton Cup against Oaks Park.

Match Report

U13A 3 VS 2 Harrodian

The U13A's played our first game of the area cup against Oaks Park, away on a muddy pitch after a long walk to the school. This was just after a convincing win over The Harrodian School just the day before, so we were ready to replicate the result here.

We started the game off well, playing fluid football, despite the pitches not allowing too many passes. Ege (8D) played an inch-perfect ball to Rico (8C), who was able to run past his man and give us the first goal of the game. Then Jenishan (8S) won a free kick in a position of menace. He struck the ball with beauty; it unluckily hit the post, but I was there to send it home.

By half-time we were up 2-0 and dominating the game, but it was starting to get scrappy with balls going far and wide. However, this did not suit our style of play and so we conceded a pen, which Burak (8B) saved. Despite this, he couldn't save us and two scrappy deflected goals were conceded before full time.

Throughout extra time we had many glorious opportunities and were by far the better team, including a 1-on-1 where Rohan (8S) narrowly missed the target. Then, we knew our fate was doomed: it was going down to a penalty shoot-out. We took second, so watched the other team miss a penalty, only to miss ourselves. Then, they scored but we failed to again. On the third penalty they scored again, but again we failed to convert the penalty. We thought the game was over and the other team had broke into celebration.

However, we were still in this game, providing we converted all our remaining penalties, and our goalkeeper could save all of theirs. This is exactly what happened. Arlo (8D) scored, while Burak (8B) made a brilliant save. Jenishan (8S) converted his penalty, while Burak saved it again. It all came down to a sudden death shoot-out. They took 1st and Burak once again saved it. Then, it was all down to Mikhail (8D) and if he scored, we would win. And that's exactly what he did, by slotting it bottom right. The unthinkable happened and we had won this enthralling match, sending us to the next round of the area cup.
