Player Of The Week

Player of the week can only be one pupil this week with Joel (Year Eight, photo below) scoring an incredible six goals in one game for the U13As.

Aidan (Year Eight) scored a rocket of a free kick which almost broke the net for their U13A’s in their National Cup game. Mikhail (Year Eight) in a new position was the last-minute hero for the U14A’s with a dramatic late winner. Bruno (Year Twelve) got his first brace for the school with an outstanding attacking display for the 1st XI against the Leavers.

Team Of The Week

Team of the week again are the U13As, who made it into the last 64 of the National Cup, the next round of the Surrey Cup and had an emphatic win against Lingfield.

Winning away at Royal Russell is always difficult but the 1st XI did just that with a 2-1 win. They also (banner photo, top) beat a Leavers XI 5-1 on Saturday but even they couldn’t stop the deadly Mr Straw from scoring with a bullet header. The U14s had a good week with the B team making it three wins in a row, and the A team had a dramatic finish, scoring two in the last minute to win 5-4 versus Lingfield.

Wilson’s U15A 0 - 1 Lingfield Match Report

It was a bitterly cold Saturday morning, but nevertheless, both teams were eager to get the play started.

The match kicked off with a slow start from Wilson’s, with some great defending, and some top-tier saves from Ved keeping us in the game. However, as the first half progressed, we found our stride, and began to look more and more threatening going forward. It was easy to create chances, with our best coming from attacks from the flanks, and dangerous balls from the midfield. However, we failed to convert, and our momentum was momentarily paused by the half time whistle.

Wilson’s looked strong starting the second half, which closely mirrored the first. Characterised by plenty of shots from both sides, it was some exhilarating end to end football. Unfortunately, a short lapse in concentration near the end of the game led to a cross finding an unmarked man in the box. We tried to find a response in the little time left, but some brilliant saves from the Lingfield keeper denied our attack, and the match ended 0-1.

Everyone played well to overcome the frosty weather, though special mention goes to Nana A and Jayden, who defended excellently all game, as well as Nana O, who provided us with non-stop attacks.
