YEAR 10 CHALLENGE
Posted on: | Category:

Earlier this month, Year 10 pupils enjoyed Jack Petchey's "Speak Out" workshop, with each of us participating in a range of speaking activities, from telling stories with captivating and interesting hooks, to being put on the spot and answering confusing and odd questions on the fly—all led by the bubbly and kind people from Speaker's Trust, who came in to lead the day. As the day progressed, students began to construct speeches on any topic of their choosing to present to their form groups, which for some was nerve-racking, but for all was deeply beneficial.

All pupils in Year 10 delivered admirable speeches on a range of different topics, but from each form a person was chosen to go through to present in the Assembly Final. In each form this was:

Brecon: Nishil
Camberwell: Samuel
Datchelor: Zach
Greencoat: Ethan
Hayes: Aditya
Southwark: Pavamaan

These speeches were delivered to the entire year and covered a range of powerful, personal and sometimes humorous topics. From these, Sam was selected to take part in the Regional Final, held on Wednesday 29 March, in which he came second out of fifteen competitors from across the borough! Big congratulations not only to Sam but to each and every pupil in the year group for overcoming the challenges of the day. A huge thank you also to the Speakers Trust staff and Jack Petchey team for making it possible for us to take part in the workshop.
