HIV: DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT
Posted on: | Category:

HIV then & now
by Dr Simon Edwards, Consultant HIV/Sexual health & Medical Director CNWL

Dr Simon Edwards gave a detailed presentation on the history of HIV diagnoses and treatment, followed by a brief overview of his impressive career. The opening revision of the viral life cycle was extremely useful, as this allowed us to apply the complex topic of HIV to a familiar, digestible context. We were fortunate to learn about an evolution of attitudes, understanding and treatment of the condition, while Dr Edwards provided insight into what the future of HIV treatment may hold. The engaging and entertaining presentation was rounded up after a series of curious questions, each of which were confidently and knowledgeably answered.

This was particularly beneficial for Year 13 students, who received an opportunity to deepen their medical and biological knowledge in the advent of medical interviews on the way. On behalf of the audience, we'd like to give a big thank you to Dr Edwards for the insightful talk.
