BIRD WATCHING
Posted on: | Category:

Last year, a documentary was made about Old Wilsonian Arjun (who left Wilson’s in 2021) called Skyward. From Year 7, Arjun’s passion for bird watching was evident and he has devoted much of his time to conservation, becoming quite a big name on the scene, even appearing on BBC Springwatch and at live events with big names in the business.

In 2021, his passion was picked up by two fantastic filmmakers (Jessica and Laura) who made this short documentary about him and another young birder, which has been shown at various film festivals, and was premiered at the BFI earlier this year. As part of the documentary, Arjun leads a school trip with younger students onto Roundshaw Downs and there are also some fantastic views over Beddington Farmlands. We are all ever so proud of the work Arjun does; how lovely to see such passion not only flourish in one of our pupils, but that this has been recognised on an international stage!

The film is now available to watch on The Guardian Website and is available here.

Arjun has also written an article alongside other young wildlife enthusiasts which can be viewed here.

In 2023 we plan to screen the documentary at school, with Arjun and the filmmakers present for a Q&A session, so keep your eyes peeled for this!
