YEAR 10 VISIT
Posted on: | Category:

The Geography Department took Year 10 students to the Eastbourne coastline to carry out physical geography fieldwork last month. Set in the beautiful surroundings of the South Downs and the Seven Sisters, the beach provided the perfect location for the students to be introduced to fieldwork on the topics of coastal geography and explore this unique landscape. During their time on the beach, students were introduced to a variety of methodologies that they used to carry out their individual data collection on the effectiveness of coastal management, which is increasing in importance because of the consequences of climate change.

All the students worked diligently throughout the day, applying themselves admirably to all tasks set to them and demonstrating their passion for Geography. This work ethic and determination to understand new concepts was praised highly by all the staff on the trip. The Geography Department looks forward to continuing to work with the students back in the classroom on their fieldwork write ups to ensure that their passion in the field translates into an outstanding piece of work and a deeper understanding of how theoretical geography translates into the real world.
