BRITTON CENTRE FACILITY
Posted on: | Category:

This term started with the Grand Opening of the new Britton Centre by HRH Princess Eugenie, and the music department is now making extensive use of all the new facilities. Look out for a report on the first stages of the Young Musician of the Year competition next week! As well as the new Fitness Suite and changing room renovations, the building project also included the development of a Wellbeing Centre that has now appeared, as if by magic, above the new changing room area! It is a dedicated space focused on supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of all Wilsonians.

The Wellbeing Centre includes four new offices and has, at its heart, a very friendly seating area and a conference meeting room. As well serving as a base for our safeguarding team, the spaces will be used by our counsellor, school nurse, child wellbeing practitioner and other visitors (including career guidance experts). Pupils will be introduced to the space — which is accessed from the same staircase as the school library — in their tutor groups over the coming weeks.

The large seating area will be the ideal venue for staff to meet groups of pupils, ensuring that the needs and views of pupils are a key part of our strategic planning for all areas of safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and PSHE. A visitor this week described it as ‘the most impressive place dedicated to pupil wellbeing’ she had ever seen in a school! We are delighted with the new facilities and renew our thanks to all those who have helped to make these projects possible.
