Wednesday’s Charity Winter Concert offered the usual very eclectic range of musical styles from some of the school’s top ensembles, culminating in some impressive outings from the Senior Orchestra and Wind Bands. The Odyssey Big Band goes from strength to strength, with some rich festive fare following the arrangement of Ain’t Misbehavin’ with some lively and invigorating solos!
The current size of the full choir, around 120 pupils, is quite magnificent and the evening provided an excellent opportunity for a foretaste of some of the repertoire that will be performed at our annual Carol Service on 12 December.
With the Britton Centre very nearly complete, we are very excited about prospect of some quite different concert arrangements in future, with smaller ensembles performing at separate events in our new recital room. Wednesday’s performances of Baroque music have made us especially excited about the delivery of our new harpsichord in the spring / summer of 2023, which will really help to bring this repertoire alive!
