APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
Posted on: | Category:

It’s been a particularly busy start to the school year, with many exciting new developments in the different ways for pupils to get involved in the extra-curricular life of the school. Our Clubs Fair showcased the wide range of activities for pupils to enjoy; Vertical Tutoring begins next week; we even now record attendance at clubs via a QR code and an associated app!

I am also excited to confirm that the victors of the 2022/2023 House Cup are Camberwell, who will be receiving their accolade during the traditional end-of-term Celebration Assembly.

Now it’s time to introduce this year’s House Captains, who have already been working energetically to encourage pupils in their respective Houses to participate in the wider life of the school.

Here’s to an exciting year!

Mr. Elwood (House Coordinator)

My name is Philip and I am the House Captain of Brecon. This year, I am looking forward to interacting with the members of my house and increasing participation in house competitions. Moreover, I will encourage extra-curricular involvement and support well-being of the members of our house. Alongside me will be our Deputy House Captains, Varun and Nelson, who will help Brecon to promote pupil engagement and win the House Cup.

Brecon, Camberwell

Hello, my name is Han-Joon and I am the House Captain of Camberwell. Our Camberwell House prefect team consists of myself and two diligent deputies, Isa and Ethan. I look forward to putting on many enjoyable and inclusive events, all of which whilst maintaining a competitive spirit. Amongst other roles, we also look out for the younger pupils of our houses in particular and make sure everyone in Camberwell, including our youngest members, are participating in our exciting house events!

Hi, my name is Ethan. Pictured next to me are Myles and Habib, and together, we make up the Datchelor House Team! This year, we look forward to running House Events for the school (including, potentially, House Basketball) and planning vertical tutoring sessions. We have all been influenced by the House system, and are excited to give back, and hopefully secure Datchelor's first House Cup win!

Datchelor, Greencoat

My name is Ivor, and I am the House Captain of Greencoat. My Deputy House Captains are Sudhir and Nithushan, and together, we are the prime representatives of Greencoat. As year 13 students, school life can certainly be intense at times, especially when compared to our experiences lower down in the school. Nevertheless, whether you are a year 7 student adjusting to secondary school life or a stress-loaded sixth former, Wilson's finds many ways to make the school experience overwhelmingly enjoyable. The three of us are really involved in school-led extracurricular activities, with diverse interests ranging from football to CCF, from basketball to participating in the Wimbledon Ballboy programme - and we encourage all members of the school community to do the same, pursuing their interests and getting engaged with all aspects of school life. As House representatives, our focus is on better integrating the school community, and have organised house competitions which aim to do just this - such as House Sports events, Music, Chess, Sports Day, and more!

Hi! My name is Muizz and I am honoured to serve as this year's House Captain of Hayes, with Rushil and Pahalavan assisting me as my dedicated Deputies for this role. Last year, our house experienced a narrow, heart-wrenching loss in the House Cup. This year will be different. Being called 'second place' fuelled our determination to come back stronger, and the way we will do that is by excelling in house competitions. Alongside many of our fellow students, we share a passion for sports, and this year, we are thrilled to announce the inclusion of many competitions involving this, with the potential for a weightlifting competition or even an inter-year group 5-a-side football tournament. With unwavering commitment and resilience, our goal is crystal clear: to claim the House Cup.

Hayes, Southwark

My name is Philo, your Southwark House Captain, and joining me as Deputy House Captains are Arun and Gabriel. We are all delighted to lead this house, after creating many long-lasting memories of our own when representing Southwark. Our aim, alongside the other House Captains, is to create as many opportunities as possible for all the students to participate and shape some unforgettable moments for this school year. With the pressures of academia, it is crucial to let loose and enjoy and it is our aim as house captains to create a community where everyone can do so without hesitation. Throughout our time at Wilson’s School, we have immersed ourselves in a wide range of school-led activities, including football, badminton, and Duke of Edinburgh. Our message to all students is to get involved and follow your passions, while engaging with all aspects of school life. With practically any competitions you can think of, from House Sports events to academic challenges, Music and Sports Day, we want you all to be an integral part of this year and bring Southwark to the top!
