Spirit of Rugby Award

Last week the spirit of rugby award was handed out for the first time this year. The award is given to a boy who has displayed behaviour akin to the RFU’s core values: respect, discipline, sportsmanship, enjoyment and teamwork. The first award this year went to Eliram K in 7B for his enjoyment of the game. Eliram is passionate, enthusiastic and always brings positivity to the group through his excellent attitude. Our congratulations go to Eliram on this award.

U12A win their first ever game for the school

On 15 October, our newly formed rugby U12A team (photo, above) travelled to Wallington Boys’ School to face the opposition. After a 5 minute warm up, we were ready to play. Wilson’s began with a strong defence stopping any attacks from the opposition. Harry C (7C), Eliram K (7B) and Jonathan E (7B) made lots of strong tackles, keeping Wallington at bay. After some good ball retention, I then managed to find a gap and score for our first try, which we doubled soon after. At the start of the second half Wallington scored an opportunistic try but Dylan M (7D) scored again to make it 15-5. Adam J (7G) made some strong tackles before more relentless carries from Limo Z (7C) and Dylan saw us score with the last play of the game to win 20-5.
