Prefect Dinner in Picadilly

Earlier this month, our wonderful Prefect Team (six of whom are pictured here) was formally recognised for their unwavering commitment and service to the school over the past year. They attended a dinner for the team at The Royal Air Force Club, Picadilly, during which the Prefects were thanked for their service and the selfless manner in which they have undertaken their duties, for the benefit of the whole school. For many students this was a first formal dinner that they have attended but they presented themselves superbly.

The event took place the day before the 80th anniversary of VE Day and so the Royal Air Force Club was looking in particular splendour. In a special and unique moment, a handful of members of the school RAF contingent encountered a 104-year old RAF veteran, who delighted in describing to engrossed students his experience of flying one of the very planes that was pictured on the wall! A lovely moment where 86 years of age difference evaporated in the face a shared love of flying and the RAF. It was a moment which I am sure our students will never forget.

Particular mention was made of the leadership of outgoing School Captain Bruno. His humility, organisation and skill have made him an excellent leader and we are exceptionally grateful for his service to the school.

Our thanks too to our host Mr John Nicholson, Chair of of the Trust Board of Wilson’s School, and to Wing Commander Hobbs and Miss Fairbrother, for all their work in enabling a memorable evening to take place.

Young as they may be, our Prefect Team are now soon to be Old Wilsonians. As their prefectures come to an end, the school is very grateful to them for their service and they should be rightly proud of how they have enriched our community.
