Wilson's School

Purley Food Hub Collection

In keeping with our school’s motto - 'Non Sibi Sed Omnibus' (Not For Oneself But For All) – the Wilson’s community has shown its generosity and kindness once again with our annual Purley Food Hub Collection.

After an assembly delivered on the topic of poverty in our local areas from Ms Jones, the collection began the next week.

Current challenges with the cost of living have put many food banks under immense pressure to provide essentials for anyone who needs help and it is great to see our school play a small part in helping others. At the Purley Food Hub, they provide emergency food, toiletries and household essentials to local people going through a time of hardship. Since being set up in 2013, their 150 volunteers have helped to provide over 380,000 meals to over 42,000 people in need.

This year, the school has donated a record 2,147 items to the food hub!

It is amazing to see how our community can come together and support those who are struggling, and we can’t wait to see how the true Wilson’s spirit will be showcased at the next collection!

Thanks to our Charities Lead - Ms Jones - for organising the collection, who commented:

"I am deeply proud of the Wilson’s community for stepping up this week. We have been inundated with donations, and students made a real, conscious effort to remember others and put their needs first. Well over 2,000 items were donated which is going to have a real impact on those around us.

Wilson’s is a truly caring and principled community, and I am very grateful to be part of it."
