Wilson's AI Summit 2025
Do you know what the 'GPT' in Chat-GPT stands for? Could you explain the legal, ethical and environmental implications of using Large Language Models online? With only three years since the public release of many now-familiar chatbots and other AI tools, the pace of change has been very rapid; teachers and young people have no choice but to make sense of the technology, learn and adapt.
The potential opportunities are very exciting, but at the moment, very careful human inputs are required to create the strongest learning materials and part of this week's focus was on how to develop and refine these. For pupils, excitement about the technology can give way to disillusion and time-wasting without care to teach and learn the best ways to exploit it for learning opportunities.
In this week's Professional Learning for teaching staff, a wide range of techniques were explored in sessions led by Mr Lissimore, Mrs Berry and Mrs Fletcher. All teachers then experimented in subject teams with creating new materials for adapting their teaching to provide greater support or challenge to learners.
Over the coming weeks, parents will be invited to attend an online workshop to learn more about the implications of generative AI for themselves and for their children. Look out for information in weekly communications from Heads of Year.
