Seasonal Delights at the Charity Winter Concert
Over 200 students took part in this week's Winter Concert, with excellent performances from the Senior Orchestra, with showpieces from Stravinsky and Bizet, as well as the Wind Bands, String Sinfonia, Sinfonietta (Junior Orchestra), Odyssey Big Band and Choirs. The Double Reed Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble and Flute Ensemble also gave a foretaste of the performances we can look forward to in next term's Chamber Concert.
We were especially pleased to welcome our new Director of Choral Music, Tristan Weymes, to the platform as the choirs performed carols by women composers including Avril Coleridge-Taylor and Elizabeth Poston. There will be much more to enjoy in the upcoming Carol Service in Croydon Minster on 16 December!
Lighting by Will (Year 12) really added to the sense of occasion, and we are very grateful to Mrs Straw (Music Department Administrator) for all she does to make our concerts run so smoothly.
The concert supported our fundraising efforts for Newlife, the UK’s largest charitable provider of specialist equipment for disabled children.
