Year 8 Celebration Assembly
Last Wednesday, Shrihaan and Nathan (both in 8B) hosted our a special assembly of recognition in which we celebrated pupils' achievements in a wide range of subjects. This was a student board idea that we came up with last year and have been working on it with dedication.
Each half term, we have decided that we will celebrate one student from three subjects as well as someone from co-curricular sport and music. The subjects chosen will be rotated around so that one pupil from each will be appreciated by the end of the academic year.
Students are selected by the Heads of Department for a wide range of things - from putting in consistent effort, or demonstrating a standout example of dedication to the subject.
This term the following students were recognised -
Sport
- Woody (8D): For outstanding performance, team contribution, dedication, and hard work.
Co-Curricular Music
- Zac (8G): For stepping up to the plate to lead SInfonietta in our first rehearsal when no one had seen the music yet and everyone was sight-reading! Well done!
Maths
- Arib (8C): Arib has performed exceptionally well in his recent Maths homeworks and assessments, and the presentation of his work is exemplary.
English
- Matheo (8H): Consistent hard work and exemplary attitude!
Art
- Arjun (8C): Excellent effort and focus in class.
We hope that all the students will see this as an opportunity to showcase their ability and push themselves in class!
Mr Sturt - Head of Year 8 and Director of Key Stage 3 - had the following to say.
Well done to Shrihaan and Nathan in 8B for having this idea in Student Board and then helping to arrange and put this assembly together.
It is a great example of the school motto - Non Sibi Sed Omnibus (Not For Oneself But For All) - and I am really proud of their focus in arranging this!
