Year 8 Celebration Assembly
Last Wednesday, we hosted our second assembly of recognition in which we celebrated pupils' achievements in a wide range of subjects. This was a student board idea that we came up with last year and have been working on it with dedication.
Every half term we will celebrate one student from a number of subjects as well as someone from co-curricular sport and music. The subjects chosen will be rotated around so that one pupil from each will be appreciated by the end of the academic year. Students are selected by the Heads of Department for a wide range of things - from putting in consistent effort, or in a standout example of dedication to the subject.
This term the following students were recognised:
- Sport: Matheo - For demonstrating fantastic commitment, effort, and consistent application across a wide range of sports, and for delivering an outstanding individual performance during the recent squash nationals match in which he was playing up against players older than himself.
- Music: Daniel - Always attends ensembles cheerfully and really knows how to nurture his talent - e.g. Putting in the hours on the French horn to make a great sound in Wind Band!
- Science: Bao Chau - For consistent outstanding work in Science.
- French: Fenu - For demonstrating fantastic commitment, effort, and consistent application in French.
- German: Arjan - For commitment to German, always showing high levels of enthusiasm, engagement and diligence.
- Latin: Mohammed - For excellent effort and engagement in all lessons and consistently completing extra work at home to improve Latin knowledge.
We hope that all the students will see this as an opportunity to showcase their ability and push themselves a little harder!

Mr Sturt - Head of Year 8 and Key Stage 3 - said:
Well done to Shrihaan and Nathan in 8B for having this idea in Student Board and then helping to arrange and put this assembly together.
It is a great example of the school motto - Non Sibi Sed Omnibus - in action, and I am really proud of their focus in arranging this!
