Adventures in Bannau Brycheiniog!
Generations of Wilsonians have relished the experience of week outdoors in the Brecon Beacons - now known as Bannau Brycheiniog.
The pinnacle of the trip is the climb up Pen-Y-Fan, the highest mountain in South Wales. It is a physical challenge and especially tough in wet and windy weather - which is what most of our groups experienced this week! The peak stands at 2,907 ft above sea level and all those who made it up can be proud of their achievement.
While much of the format has changed over the years, the philosophy of living and working together in an outdoor environment, learning new skills and having fun, remains unchanged. From the various centres, pupils are encouraged to make good use of their free time away from electronic devices, instead playing cards or board games or organising sports.
Thanks also go to a great set of pupils who have behaved impeccably and threw themselves into the week with the usual great enthusiasm - as did their teachers!
