Wilson's School

Cricket Update #6

Team Reports

Wilson’s U15B lost the toss and were asked to field against Carshalton Boys U15A.

Carshalton had a strong top order who punished anything too full or too short from the Wilson’s bowlers. Fielding was also below par at times, allowing Carshalton Boys to post an imposing 171-4 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Praney and Aarav gave Wilson’s the perfect start with an outstanding opening partnership of 152. Their controlled but aggressive batting put the team firmly in a winning position. Although both batters were run out in the closing overs, the damage had already been done as Wilson’s reached the target in the 19th over to complete an excellent victory.

Wilson’s U13B won the toss against Harris Academy Sutton and made a promising start as Harris Sutton bowled a wayward opening spell, enabling captain Vivaan (14) to get the innings off to a positive start before falling in the third over.

Following his dismissal, Shrihaan (37) and Vivaan (36) produced an excellent partnership that took the game away from Sutton. Both batsmen played some fine attacking strokes and kept the scoreboard moving throughout the middle overs.

Krish (21) then played aggressively in the closing stages of the innings to help Wilson’s reach an impressive 169-7 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Wilson’s produced a disciplined performance in the field, with all of the bowlers maintaining a good line and length. Advik impressed with figures of 2-15 from his four overs, while Rishaan bowled with excellent pace and accuracy to finish with 1-8 from two overs.

The bowling effort was backed up by strong fielding. Daksh continued his improvement with a fine catch and also completed a sharp stumping off the bowling of leg-spinner Sam.

Overall, it was an excellent all-round team performance from Wilson’s, securing a convincing 68-run victory.

Wilson’s U13A won the toss and elected to bat first. After a steady start, Arjun and Tritish put together a fantastic partnership that took control of the game and guided the team to an excellent 166-1 from their 20 overs.

Arjun finished unbeaten on a superb 75 from 56 balls, while Tritish supported him brilliantly with 51 not out from 46 deliveries. The pair batted intelligently throughout, accelerating well and ensuring Wilson’s posted a very competitive total.

In response, the bowling performance was something of a mixed bag, with some excellent spells alongside periods of inconsistency. At times, the boys needed to recognise how the game was developing and adapt accordingly, particularly by maintaining greater consistency with line and length.

Hinchley Wood were kept in the game largely thanks to an outstanding unbeaten 75 from one of their batsmen, but Wilson’s still restricted them to 140-2 from their 20 overs to secure a 26-run victory.

The two wickets both came via good catches from Arjun and Guhan, helping to maintain pressure in the field.

Wilson's U12A lost the toss and were asked to field against Caterham School. The Caterham batters were soon in trouble thanks to an excellent new-ball spell from Arnav, who finished with 2-5 from 4 overs, well supported by Vishnu. All of the bowlers contributed strongly on a challenging wicket, with Arjun C also impressing by taking 2-2 from his 2 overs. Caterham were bowled out for 78.

There were some outstanding catches from Akshat, Arnav, and Nilin, but the ground fielding remains an area for improvement if we are to compete consistently against stronger opposition next term.

Chasing a modest target, several batters made starts but were guilty of giving their wickets away. However, Vivaan produced his most composed innings of the season, finishing unbeaten on 19* to guide Wilson’s home comfortably with 20 balls to spare, winning by 5 wickets.

Wilson’s U12B produced an excellent all-round performance to defeat Caterham School by 28 runs after being asked to bat first.

After losing the toss, Wilson’s made a steady start with Daiwik anchoring the innings superbly with a watchful 27 from 50 balls. Adi added an important 13 off 25 deliveries, while late call-up Rishi provided valuable momentum at the end of the innings with a quickfire 11 from just 9 balls. Wilson’s finished on 115 for 7 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Wilson’s bowlers maintained an excellent line and length throughout, never allowing Caterham to build any meaningful partnerships. Nikhilesh and Aditya both claimed two wickets apiece as the pressure continued to mount on the opposition. Caterham eventually closed on 87 for 9 from their 20 overs, giving Wilson’s a deserved 28-run victory.

Wilson's U12C batted first against Caterham School. Wilson’s posted 110 for 3, despite finding runs hard to come by from the batters themselves. Aryk top-scored with a patient 10 from 23 balls, while extras proved the biggest contributor to the innings, adding a remarkable 70 runs to the total.

In reply, Wilson’s bowling performance fell below the standards the team would have expected, with all but one bowler conceding multiple wides. Even the school’s usually most economical bowler, Aksharan, surrendered that title after two sidearm overs went for 19 runs.

The standout performance with the ball came from Kian, whose superb spell of 2 wickets for 6 runs kept Caterham under pressure and proved crucial in restricting them to 97 for 9. Despite the inconsistencies, Wilson’s did enough to secure a hard-fought 13-run victory.
